Energy is the Largest Cost in Data Centers

Energy consumption represents one of the largest operational costs for modern data centers. Cooling systems alone can account for a significant share of electricity usage.

CloudTelc develops infrastructure solutions that transform unused energy sources into efficient cooling systems for data center facilities.

Listen to overview

Data center energy optimization relies on two innovative processes: natural gas combined cycle absorption and subterranean heat exchange. The combined cycle absorption technology captures and converts high-grade waste heat into mechanical or cooling energy, eliminating the need for fossil fuels and increasing energy efficiency. For hyperscale data centers, a subterranean system utilizes the earth's natural thermal properties to store and retrieve thermal energy at varying temperatures for cooling and heating purposes. With subterranean heat exchange, ground-source heat pumps facilitate heat transfer between the data center and the stable-temperature ground, which is much more efficient than using ambient air. Together, combined cycle absorption and subterranean heat exchange technologies pave the way for sustainable and responsible data center operations.

Energy optimization overview

Data center energy optimization: waste heat recovery and geothermal cooling.

Natural Gas Combined Cycle + Waste Heat Cooling

CloudTelc deploys high-efficiency natural gas combined cycle systems to supply electricity to data centers.

Unlike conventional power generation, the system captures waste heat generated during electricity production.

This waste heat is then used to power absorption cooling systems that significantly reduce the energy required for traditional data center cooling.

  • High efficiency power generation
  • Waste heat recovery
  • Reduced cooling electricity demand
  • Lower operational costs

Geothermal Cooling Using Abandoned Oil Wells

Many regions contain inactive oil wells that can be repurposed as geothermal heat exchange systems.

CloudTelc utilizes these existing underground structures to circulate cooling fluids through deep subsurface formations.

The geothermal system provides stable temperature exchange that supports efficient cooling for data center infrastructure.

  • Reuse of existing infrastructure
  • Sustainable cooling solution
  • Reduced electricity consumption
